My Dad was the absolute love of my life, I always waited for him to come home from work.I would sit on the front porch, and when I would see him get off the bus, I ran in to tell my Mom...Daddy's coming. He was a nickel plater by trade, and always brought me home a little dog, or cat he might of plated for me at work.
Dad was always doing something around the house, mostly my Busha's house( his
Moms). He loved to paint and work outside.
He was somewhat of a nut as he would always play pratical jokes on
my Mom...fake spiders, mice, and sneaking up on her.He always said she was
niave, but I think she just loved to play along with his jokes.
I spent a lot of time with my Dad, and as he loved to drink, my Mom would always send me to go get him at the bar. I can still remember sticking my head in that dark bar, and saying "Daddy dinner is ready." He would always say.."Ok Patsy, I'm coming." When Mom made Sunday dinner, Dad would always take me to the park. Sometimes tho, he would stop at the corner bar, and tell me ..."Don't tell your Mom" and we would go inside, and I would have a root beer and pretzals. He would always tell the bartender, get my best girl a drink. I can still remember that cool dark place, and my Dad's rough calloused hands as we walked home.To this day when I drink root beer I think of my Dad.
I was only nine when my Dad died, so my memories of him are fleeting, but I can still see his face and smell his cologne. He was very protective of me, and would not even let my Mom discipline me, he would always say..."She's a good kid...Em.. leave her alone." He was a great guy, and loved by everyone, and would as my Uncle Ed would always say..."Give you the shirt off of his back." Dad loved to sing, he had a wonderful voice and used to sing to me, my favorite song was Daddy's Little Girl...he would tease me and say another name than mine...then say oh you are my little girl...sorry I forgot!
He loved my Mom till the end of his days, as she always stood by him..and up for him no matter what. He used to say.."I am such a lucky man."
